Power and Performance

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L has two engine options. The standard engine is a 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine that delivers 290 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. The other option is the available 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine. Both engines work with a standard 8-speed automatic transmission.

Interior Dimensions and Cargo Space

There is plenty of space for both gear and passengers inside the Grand Cherokee L. In terms of cargo space, the maximum amount behind the first row is 84.6 cubic feet. If you have three rows full of passengers, you’ll still have plenty of cargo space with 17.2 cubic feet.

The first two rows are ideal for long-legged passengers, with 41.3 inches of legroom in the front row and 39.4 inches in the second row. There is plenty of space in the third row, too, with 30.3 inches.

If you’re bringing a full car with you on vacation, no one will feel squashed. The front row sports 57.4 inches of hip room. The second row has almost as much as 56.3 inches of hip room, and the third row has 42.9 inches.

Shoulder room in the Grand Cherokee L comes to 59.2 inches in the front, 58 inches in the second row, and 51.9 inches in the third.

Off-Road Capability

The Grand Cherokee L is prepared to hit the great outdoors like other Jeep vehicles. To help you conquer whatever terrain you come across, the Grand Cherokee L has an available Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System with five drive modes: Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, and Mud/Sand.

You also have the option of choosing between three available 4×4 systems. The first one, the Quadra-Trac I® Active 4×4 System, can switch between 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive. The second option is the available Quadra-Trac II® Active 4×4 System, which helps with torque and slippage. The third option, Quadra-Drive® II, offers a good deal of power and 4×4 capability.

If you’re traveling over uneven or rocky terrain, the Grand Cherokee L’s ground clearance is up to 10.9 inches. Using the available Quadra-Lift® Air Suspension system, you can navigate through up to 24 inches of water.
