On the hunt for a light-duty full-size pickup that can do more than just tow and haul? You’re in the right place! Both the 2020 Ram 1500 and the 2020 Ford F-150 offer an impressive mix of customization options, high-powered performance, and top-notch technology features.

In this comparison, we at Dallas DCJR will show you how these two vehicles stack up against each other in the categories you care about most. Read on to see if the Ram 1500 vs. Ford F-150 is a better fit for your needs!

Ram 1500 vs F-150: Performance Specs

The 2020 Ram 1500 gives you plenty of options, so you’ll get the exact right configuration for your needs. This model offers four powerful engines in its powertrain lineup, including a standard 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine with an eTorque Mild Hybrid System.

With this engine under the hood, you’ll get the perfect balance between power and efficiency. You’ll get 305 horsepower as well as achieve best-in-class standard V6 fuel economy. Dominate the worksite as well as your drive there.

Swap this standard engine out for an available 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine that can be equipped with available eTorque technology. Either way, you’ll get a whopping 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque to work with.

With the 2020 Ford F-150, you’ll have several V6 and V8 engines to choose from, starting with the standard 3.3-L Ti-CVT V6 engine that puts out just 290 horsepower.

Ram 1500 vs F-150: Impressive Equipment

With the 2020 Ford F-150, you’ll have a towing capacity over 13,000 pounds, while the Ram 1500 offers a towing capacity of 12,750 when the vehicle is properly equipped. Although you’ll have slightly more towing capability with the F-150, it comes at a price of missing out on all the great pieces of equipment the Ram 1500 brings to the table.

For starters, the Ram 1500 comes standardly equipped with the Class-Exclusive TorqueFlite® eight-speed automatic transmission. Using next-generation technology, this system works together with the eTorque Mild Hybrid System to maximize every drop of fuel in your engine system. You won’t find a system like this in the F-150.

The Ram 1500 also offers an available Class-Exclusive Active-Level™ Four Corner Air Suspension system. Even when you’re towing the maximum towing capacity of 12,750 pounds, this system will automatically keep your truck level on all kinds of surfaces to keep you confident. The F-150 is lacking in this realm as well.

Ram 1500 vs F-150: Interior Design & Space

Both the 2020 Ram 1500 and the 2020 Ford F-150 offer several cab options, including spacious 6-passenger cabins. Inside these trucks’ available Crew Cabs, you’ll have plenty of space. That being said, the Ram 1500 goes above and beyond with 45.1 inches of best-in-class rear-seat legroom. Compare this to the 43.6 inches of maximum rear-seat legroom offered by the F-150.

That’s not the only thing to be excited about in the rear row of seats of the Ram, though. You’ll find a slew of Class-Exclusive features waiting for you back there, including reclining rear seatbacks with eight degrees of slide recline. You’ll also get rear-seat heating and ventilation for maximum comfort throughout the cabin.

In terms of comfort, the F-150 has available heated front and rear seats to offer. You can even opt for ventilated front seats, but you won’t find this comfort feature in the rear seats of this model no matter trim level you choose.

You’ll also miss out on a handy customizable center console in the F-150. Up front in the Ram 1500, you’ll get an available Class-Exclusive Reconfiguration Center Console. Not only can you configure it four different ways to suit your specific needs, but it also offers ample space for your items.

Safely store your important files while still being able to reference them when you’re out on the worksite with this console’s bin for hanging file folders. It also has enough space to safely stow a 15-inch laptop. Plus, you’ll be able to charge it and four other devices with five high-speed USB charging ports inside the console. You won’t find anything like this in the F-150.

Ram 1500 vs F-150: Technology Features

Not only is the 2020 Ram 1500 powerful and incredibly customizable, but it’s also tech-savvy. At the helm of the cabin, you’ll find a collection of connectivity features like you’ve never seen before. It takes form as the available Uconnect® 12.0 with Navigation.

This advanced system sports a Largest-in-Class 12-inch vertically oriented touchscreen display on which you’ll be able to access all kinds of helpful features. Follow navigation, get real-time traffic and weather updates, access your smartphone apps, stream satellite radio, and more.

You can even accomplish several of these features at a time thanks to the split-screen capability of this system. While the F-150 also offers an intuitive infotainment system with many of the same features, you’ll have to access them on a significantly smaller touchscreen display. Plus, you won’t have split-screen capability.

When it comes to entertainment, the Ram 1500 continues to reign supreme with its available 900-watt Harman Kardon® Premium Audio System. This system envelops you and your passengers in your favorite audio with its 19 strategically placed speakers, the most in this class—including the F-150.

The Ram 1500 keeps going with ample charging inside the cabin. The rear row of seats will have access to a full-blown media center featuring four ultra-fast charging ports and up to three 115-volt outlets. Transform the cabin of your Ram 1500 into a mobile office with ease.

2020 Ram 1500 vs 2020 Ford F-150: Which One?

As you can see, both the 2020 Ram 1500 and the 2020 Ford F-150 offer some impressive features and capabilities. However, nothing can compete with the Ram 1500’s many Class-Exclusive features, high-end cabin, and top-of-the-line technology features.

Now that you’ve had a taste of what the Ram 1500 has to offer, it’s time to get behind the wheel and experience it for yourself. Drivers near Dallas, Garland, and Arlington can schedule a test drive in the Ram 1500 by giving us a call at Dallas DCJR today!
